Some of my first experiences with orchids were observing the natives in my own home in East Texas. Several species of Spiranthes could be found growing near in yards and fields near our home. Family vacations to the Carolinas further sparked my interest in the huge variety of orchids found in the US.

Over the years, I began a quest to find and collect photographs of any and every native orchid I could find. During this search I found myself traveling over mountains, through bogs and various extreme ecosystems that few people have the opportunity to see.

Each orchid profile contains as many photographs and habitat information as I could post. Some of my earlier photographs are a little rough. Now armed with a professional digital camera, I'm better equipped to capture the minute details.
